Lightraiders Guiding Principles
Our Vision: A host of confident and committed Christians, arrayed in God’s freely gifted armor of light, passionate in the love and service of Christ, and equipped to advance His kingdom.
Our Mission: To engage young Christians through collaborative fantasy storytelling, teaching them to understand and apply Scripture, deepening their relationship with Christ, and equipping them for the sharing of the Gospel.
Our Foundation: God’s inspired, inerrant, sovereign, and infallible Word.
Our Pillars: The fruit of the Spirit, the armor of God, and the sharing of the Gospel.
Statement of Beliefs
We believe the Bible is God’s revelation inspired by the Holy Spirit, inerrant, infallible, authoritative, and complementary to the general revelation of His creation. (Ps 119:43, Isa 40:8, Jer 36:2, Mk 1:22, Rom 1:20, II Tim 2:15, II Tim 3:16)
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; and that as Creator He is the source of all blessings, temporal and eternal; all that we have we owe to Him. (Gen 1:1, Mal 2:10, Jn 1:18, Jn 14:26, I Cor 8:6, I Cor 12:4-6, Eph 4:6, I Tit 2:5, Jas 1:17)
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, and His effectual atonement for the sins of mankind by His death on the cross; in His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory. (Mat 1:23, Lk 1:34-35, Jn 1:18, Acts 2:31, Rom 3:24-25, I Cor 15:20-24, Php 2:6-8, Heb 1:3-8, Heb 4:15)
We believe God created Adam in His image, but Adam’s sin resulted in a separation between Holy God and the corruption of mankind; every person is born into Adam’s sin which leads to death which can only be avoided by a restored relationship with God by accepting through faith the gift of Jesus Christ’s vicarious, sacrificial death. (Gen 1:26, Gen 3, Rom 3:23-25, Rom 5:18-19)
We believe in the resurrection of all people—some mercifully to life everlasting and some to eternal condemnation. (Mt 31-32, 34, 41; Jn 11:25; I Pet 1:3-4)
We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit who indwells believers and enables them to live godly lives by illuminating the wisdom of God’s Word. (Jn 14:16-17, Jn 14:26, I Cor 2:14-16)
We believe in the family which God ordained from mankind’s beginnings as the foundational institution of human society and is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, birth, or adoption; marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. (Gen 2:24, Gen 24:40, Pro 31:15, Eph 3:15, I Tim 5:8)
We believe the life of a child from the moment of conception is precious and a gift of God to be molded and nurtured in biblical values; this should be accomplished through formal instruction and the consistent Christian lifestyle of the parents; children are to honor and obey their parents learning what it means to make wise choices; and parents are to love their children, provide for them, and guide them with a firm but loving hand. (Dt 6:6-7, Jos 24:15, Jer 1:5, Eph 6:1-4, Col 3:17-21, Tim 3:4)
We believe God instituted the gathering of the body of Christ, the church, to be an extension of the family committed to supporting spiritual growth and facilitating the spread of the good news of Jesus Christ. (I Cor 12:4-7, 12; I Cor 16:19, Eph 3:10-11, Eph 4:11-13, I Tim 3:15)
