About the Lightraiders Christan Fantasy Discipleship Project
What is the Lightraiders Project?
Lightraiders is a nonprofit Christian discipleship project of the Candid (formerly GuideStar) verified 501(c)(3) Courser Media Inc. The project’s mission is to engage young Christians through collaborative fantasy storytelling, teaching them to understand and apply Scripture, deepening their relationship with Christ, and equipping them for the sharing of the Gospel. The project uses a print game-based curriculum and companion literature set in an allegorical fantasy realm, allowing students to create characters that make their own decisions, help each other, and grow in rank together in the Lightraider Order of knights.
What is the Lightraider Order?
After the Great Rescue and the rising of the Celestial Peaks, the Rescuer established the Lightraider Order and commissioned its members as knights in his service. The order made the labyrinthine mountain fortress of Ras Telesar its home. Many now call that fortress Lightraider Academy. Lightraider Academy is the center of our Christian fantasy realm.
Where did the Lightraiders Christian fantasy concept come from?
Lightraider Academy originated as DragonRaider Academy in the 1980s DragonRaid Adventure Learning System created by Dick Wulf. DragonRaid quests took place on the mythical continent of Talania. There, players met allegorical creatures and challenges that paralleled sin and real life. The imagined dangers compelled them to employ Scripture while grappling with the conflicting values of the world. It helped them discover how faith in Christ and His gifts of the fruit of the Spirit and the armor of God shape our lives and our eternity.
The nonprofit Courser Media Inc now works to continue Dick Wulf’s efforts to provide discipleship tools through fun and engaging Christian fantasy games, family games, Bible study tools, and Christian fantasy young adult books. We have a lot in store for you as long as we can keep going.
