Is Lightraiders a nonprofit?

Lightraiders is a project of Courser Media Inc, a Candid (formerly GuideStar) verified 501(c)(3). Everything we sell in our store is priced to make the curriculum and its accessories affordable to parents, schools, and churches. Purchases of the curriculum are NOT federally tax deductible but may be exempt under your state’s educational program. Please consider donating to support our all-volunteer operations and keep the project going.

What comes in the box?

The boxed set comes with the core game plus the first year’s quests (which is 24 episodes). You can find the full contents here: https://lightraiders.com/product/lightraiders-boxed-set/. If your group wants to meet twice weekly, the first year is a semester.

What are the upcoming expansions, and when is the next semester coming?

We have five additional year (semester) expansions in the works. Each expansion will include 24 episodes plus a Maps and Discoveries book and an Adventure Journal supplement (the verses and applications to study for each episode). The year three and five expansions will also include a Scout Handbook and a Knight Handbook, respectively. One set of 24 episodes will either be a year or a semester, depending on how you choose to run your program.

Will I need to order a Cadet Handbook for each player?

We recommend one per student, but it is not required. Two Cadet Handbooks come in the box. They have one page that is consumable (cadet cabinet) and optional notes pages for each episode in the Adventure Journal section.

What translation of Scripture do you use?

The verses in our products are quoted from the Christian Standard Bible. The CSB is a well-researched and readable translation from trustworthy scholars. Holman, who owns the copyright for the CSB, believes everyone should be able to use God’s Word, so they don’t restrict the use of verses from their version they way that Cambridge University restricts the use of the KJV (internationally). Isn’t this just Christian DnD?

No, Lightraiders is not Christian DnD. Lightraiders is a structured, game-based Christian discipleship curriculum that uses group role-playing game elements to teach specific discipleship principles and Scripture application. It is designed for simplicity and for any adult or older teen to lead. Please take a look at our project page to learn more. There are also examples of play on our How to Play page.

Can I write and publish my own Lightraiders stories or RPG adventures?

We get this question a lot, and the short answer is “No, you may not.” Lightraiders is not “open license.” Our invitation discord server is the only place where Adventure Masters can share home-grown Lightraiders and DragonRaid adventures. They may not be shared or distributed anywhere else for free or for sale.
