What is the Lightraider Order?
The Lightraider Order began as a community of knights in the Liberated Land of Talania. Their home is a mountain fortress called Ras Telesar, better known as Lightraider Academy.
Where did the Lightraider concept come from?
Lightraider Academy (sometimes called Dragonraider Academy) was focal point for learning in the DragonRaid Adventure Learning System created by Dick Wulf in the 1980s, often referred to as a Christian role playing game. The system, which is a Christian RPG hybrid with elements of a choose your own adventure Bible study, took place in the mythical land of Talania, where players met allegorical challenges that parallel real life. The imagined dangers compelled them to grapple with the conflicting values of our world and discover how faith in Christ and His gifts of the Fruit of the Spirit and the Armor of God shape our behavior.
The 1980s DragonRaid system differed significantly from many popular role playing games of its time, and still does, though it employs some of the same techniques. A misconception in the Christian gaming community is that DragonRaid was created as an alternative RPG for Christians. That is not the case. Created by NavPress author Dick Wulf, DragonRaid’s sole purpose is to give players a discipleship tool and Bible verse memory and application tool for deeper insight into spiritual truth. What better way to accomplish than in a Christan fantasy setting? DragonRaid was designed to help players mature in their day-to-day relationships with non-Christians, with fellow believers, and with Christ.
Lightraider Academy is now working to continue Dick Wulf’s efforts to provide growth opportunities for Christians through fun and engaging Christian fantasy games, family games, Bible study tools, and Christian fantasy books. We have a lot in store for you.
